Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at reception@womensintegrative.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A women's health naturopath focuses on supporting women through every stage of life using evidence-based nutrition, herbal medicine, dietary, and lifestyle modifications.  At Women's Integrative Naturopathy Clinic, we commonly support women with endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, infertility, painful or irregular periods, PMS, perimenopause, menopause, thyroid disorders and digestive concerns that affect hormonal health.

Yes. While naturopathy cannot cure endometriosis, it can play an important role as part of a multidisciplinary approach to supporting women living with this complex condition.

At Women's Integrative Naturopathy Clinic, our naturopath focuses on current scientific evidence and clinical experience. Clinic founder, Nour Abulughod, recently published the peer-reviewed research study, "Dietary and Nutritional Interventions for the Management of Endometriosis," in the Special Edition of Nutrition in Women (Nutrients, MDPI).

This comprehensive review explored the evidence surrounding dietary interventions and nutritional medicine for the management of endometriosis, highlighting how nutrition may influence several of the key biological processes involved in the condition.

Current research suggests that endometriosis is influenced by multiple interconnected mechanisms, including:

  • Chronic inflammation
  • Oestrogen metabolism
  • Immune dysfunction, including mast cell activation
  • Gut microbiome imbalances (dysbiosis)
  • Oxidative stress

Naturopathic care aims to address these underlying factors through an individualised treatment plan that may include evidence-based dietary modifications, nutritional supplementation, herbal medicine and lifestyle interventions. By supporting these key processes, many women experience meaningful improvements in their symptoms and overall wellbeing.

Many women report improvements in:

  • Pelvic pain
  • Painful or heavy menstrual bleeding
  • IBS-like symptoms, including bloating, constipation and diarrhoea
  • Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Fatigue and low energy levels
  • Overall quality of life

Many women also choose to incorporate naturopathic care before and after endometriosis surgery. Before surgery, the focus is on optimising nutritional status, reducing inflammation where appropriate and supporting general health. Following surgery, treatment may help support tissue healing, restore nutrient levels, promote a healthy gut microbiome and implement long-term dietary and lifestyle strategies to help manage symptoms and support recovery.

Women's Integrative Naturopathy Clinic is committed to providing evidence-informed, integrative care and works collaboratively with GPs, gynaecologists, pelvic health physiotherapists and other allied health professionals to help women achieve the best possible outcomes.

Your initial consultation is a 60-minute comprehensive appointment where your naturopath will discuss your health history, current symptoms, menstrual and reproductive health, diet, lifestyle, medications, supplements and any recent pathology results. Based on this assessment, you will receive a personalised treatment plan tailored to your health goals.

Around three weeks later, you will have a follow-up consultation to review your diet, supplements and progress, and make any necessary adjustments. After this review, consultations are usually spaced further apart, depending on your individual needs and progress.

Yes. Existing blood tests and pathology results are reviewed as part of your consultation. If further investigations are needed based on your health history and symptoms, we may recommend additional blood tests for discussion with your GP.
